Literature Text

The doctors are running, tearing down the halls
The nurses are franticly racing through all doors
Mothers are crying and digging nails into their skin
While the fathers are too shocked to let anything get in

Heartbeats are zigzagging across monitor screens
While IV therapy swings as if caught in a breeze
Rooms are all darkened with shadows ready to leap
Cleaning products so strong that your soul wants to weep

The white walls are fading to a dull painful red
Changing the sad hospital into a place full of dread
The noise starts to fall away to pitch perfect silence
As I look around and witness acts of pure violence

All the yelling and screaming is now a dull roar
The tears are all washed up inside my cold core
Buzzes and beeps are finally mixing together
Until all that’s left is the darkness that’s forever
As a student nurse I have witnessed some horrific things in hospitals, this is just a small reflection on my experiences. I hope you enjoy it!

Act of Pure Violence eh? I wonder if I should ask you to tell me some of the things that you've witnessed..
I really liked this poem and your constant use of antithesis/contrast along with imagery. Makes it feel like a horror movie though.
